J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: Homebuilt Fatal Accident Total Plunges
At EAA we track and total fatal accidents in experimental aircraft according to the federal government fiscal year that ends in September. And the fantastic news is that there were 20 percent fewer fatal accidents in experimental aircraft for 2013 than the year before. The incredible drop in the number of fatal accidents is such stunningly good news I'm not sure what to think. Are EAA's and overall industry safety efforts paying off so radically? And so quickly?

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Top Window, Dual Brakes, Fuel Tanks, and New Faces
The past week saw two great evening work sessions along with an extended Saturday session as activity continues to pick up on the EAA staff Zenith CH 750 project. Great to see some new faces, along with some familiar ones. Work was done on the top window, brakes, fuel tank installation, and more. We're hoping to see our engine mount soon so we can get the motor fitted and mounted up! Read more >>

DoubleEnder DoubleEnder: The Ultimate Bush Plane
It's not unusual for a new airplane design to generate some buzz in the aviation community, but a new bush aircraft design, the DoubleEnder, has become an online sensation. The airplane's name reflects its twin Rotax 914 engines, which have been beefed up to 130 hp each, mounted inline with the front end pulling and the rear end pushing. Read more >>

Bugatti Bugatti 100P Reproduction to Highlight EAA Wright Brothers Banquet
The effort to re-create one of aviation history's most beautiful but unproven designs will be the highlight presentation at EAA's annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet on Friday, December 13, at the EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh. This year's banquet will commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first successful powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Read more >>

EAA Hall of Fame to Enshrine Five November 14
EAA will recognize five esteemed aviators who will be inducted into the EAA Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 14, at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They include Frank Beagle of Kankakee, Illinois (posthumous), EAA Ultralight Hall of Fame; Bill Adams of Waukesha, Wisconsin (posthumous), International Aerobatic Club Hall of Fame; Susan Dusenbury of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, Vintage Aircraft Association Hall of Fame; Lee Lauderback of Orlando, Florida, Warbirds of America Hall of Fame; and Phillip J. Harison Ford Scholarship Harrison Ford Flight Training Scholarship Available
As chairman of EAA's Young Eagles program for five years (2004-2009), Harrison Ford made a wonderful contribution to the general aviation community. Angela and Jim Thompson created a scholarship honoring his enduring legacy on behalf of youth and general aviation. This $7,500 scholarship helps young people achieve their dreams of flight and is available to Young Eagles who are enrolled in the Sporty's Learn to Fly Course offered as part of the Young Eagles Flight Plan. Application deadline is December 31, 2013. Apply today!
