J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: FAA Targets Fat Pilots
The FAA will soon roll out a new medical certification policy that makes life miserable for fat pilots. Federal Air Surgeon Fred Tilton says the target isn't fat, but obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The new FAA pilot medical certification procedures will require your AME to calculate and report your BMI - body mass index. If your BMI is 40 or greater, your AME will pack you off to a board-certified sleep specialist who must test you for OSA. If you have OSA you can't fly again until Dr. Tilton and his gang are certain you have been successfully treated.

Zenith Blog Update ZENITH BLOG: Our Panel Has Arrived!
Volunteers for EAA's staff Zenith CH 750 project celebrated the arrival of the panel this week. Thanks to Dynon Avionics for donating a SkyView system including an autopilot and ADS-B, and the fine folks at SteinAir who built a beautifully wired and harnessed system for the team to install.

Board of Directors VanGrunsven, Brown, Pasahow Join EAA Board
Three aviators with extensive experience in diverse areas of the aviation community have joined the top leadership of the EAA as the newest members of the EAA board of directors. Dick VanGrunsven, Joe Brown, and David Pasahow were invited to join the board during the group fall meeting on November 14-15 in Oshkosh. As Class III directors for EAA, they will each serve one-year renewable terms on the EAA board.

TeenFlight 2 Project Teen Flight RV-12 Finds a Home Nearby
If you attended EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013, you might have seen the newly completed Van's RV-12 parked prominently near Homebuilders Headquarters. The airplane was assembled by a group of teenagers from Oregon through the local Airway Science for Kids program in conjunction with Project Teen Flight. Read more >>

B17 EAA's B-17 Makes NFL Debut Sunday
One of America's most historic military aircraft will fly over one of football's most venerable sites on Sunday, as EAA's B-17 Aluminum Overcast performs the pregame flyover at Lambeau Field before the Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings game at noon (CST). Read more >>

P-40 RAF Museum Hopes to Display P-40 Found in the Sahara
The Royal Air Force Curtiss P-40 fighter from World War II discovered in the Sahara Desert in May 2012 has been retrieved and secured at an undisclosed location, according to a report from the Royal Air Force Museum. Read more >>

S-LSA Super Legend Certificated S-LSA by FAA
American Legend's Super Legend has been was approved by the FAA as a special light-sport aircraft (S-LSA), the company reported this week. The Super Legend is a beefier version of the Legend Cub, powered by a 115-hp Lycoming O-233 engine and boasting a useful load of nearly 500 pounds. Read more >>

Copperstate Towerless Copperstate Has a Big Year
Organizers of last month's 2013 Copperstate Fly-In & Aviation Expo report that more than 6,000 people attended the 41st annual event - its first as a non-towered operation. With 500-plus aircraft participating at Casa Grande Municipal Airport in Arizona, board members and chairmen are pleased by how smoothly the event functioned in a non-towered environment.
