J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: The Mooney Barometer
Mooney airplanes are going back into production. New investors have revived the company that has been in limbo since new airplane production stopped in 2008. Mooney hopes to be delivering Ovations and Acclaims later this year. This is great news for Mooney and for Mooney owners and any fan of the speedy piston single. But it is even better news for all of GA. Mooney is really a barometer of the overall health of GA and has been very good at predicting future sales of all piston airplanes.

Paul Poberezny Paul Poberezny to Be Honored at Legends Event
Paul Poberezny, EAA's founder who passed away last year, will receive special recognition during next week's 11th Annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills, California. Actor and pilot Morgan Freeman will narrate the "Flown West" segment of the program with a special tribute to Paul, who flew west at the age of 91 on August 22, 2013. Read more >>

NTSB Issues Five New GA Safety Alerts
The National Transportation Safety Board issued five safety alerts for GA before the end of 2013 in hopes of further mitigating accidents by pinpointing hazards and offering practical remedies to address them. The alerts focus on proper ELT use and installation, carb ice awareness, self-locking fiber/nylon nuts, ensuring restraints are working and used, and securing loose items in the cockpit. GAMA, Build A Plane Sponsor Second Aviation Design Challenge
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and Build A Plane are partnering for the second consecutive year to sponsor an aviation design competition for high school students. The goal is to promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in high schools across the United States, with the winning school receiving an all-expenses-paid, two-week trip to Arlington, Washington, to help build a Glasair Sportsman aircraft through the company's Two Weeks to Taxi program. Zenith CH750 Zenith Now Shipping CH 750 Cruzer Kits
Zenith Aircraft has begun shipping kits for its newest model, the CH 750 Cruzer. Introduced last April at the Sun 'n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Florida, the Cruzer is based on the popular STOL CH 750 but built for actual runways with smaller wheels (with optional wheel fairings), and a new wing and tail design for higher cruise speed.
