See Gee Bee Q.E.D. at AirVenture
When we last spoke with Rich Alldredge following the flawless first flight of the late Jim Moss' outstanding reproduction 1934 Gee Bee Q.E.D. last fall, he said, "We definitely have Oshkosh in our sights." Well, this week he confirmed plans to fly the burly two-place Golden Age racer to Oshkosh this summer to participate in EAA AirVenture 2014. Alldredge, EAA 699652/Vintage 722854, of Moses Lake, Washington, headed the project team to complete the Q.E.D. after Moss passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 82. Read more >>

J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: We Need Stick Shakers
The FAA recently announced streamlined procedures to allow installation of angle of attack (AOA) systems in general aviation airplanes. That's good news because the STC process for approving an AOA system in a standard airplane can be so cumbersome and costly that few equipment manufacturers want to undertake it, and few airplane owners want to pick up the extra cost.

House Passes Sleep Apnea Bill
The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill that would compel any FAA requirements for sleep apnea testing and evaluation to be part of a public rulemaking process. The legislation was in response to controversial policy changes first announced by the FAA in November, with a similar bill awaiting action in the Senate. Read more >>

Sean D. Tucker Tucker Reaches the Summit
EAA Young Eagles Chairman and air show legend Sean D. Tucker reached the summit of Aconcagua on Sunday afternoon, February 9, enduring minus -30°F wind chill and 50 mph winds. According to Tucker's Facebook page, the final ascent began at 8:30 a.m., and he reached the summit - the highest point in South America - at about 4:30 p.m. Along the way he overcame the extreme altitude (22,841 feet), some frostbite, high winds, and subzero temperatures. He told Team Oracle it was the hardest thing he's ever done physically and mentally. See more about his journey on Facebook.

Skiplane Fly-In Hundreds Turn Out for EAA's Annual Skiplane Fly-In
Close to 400 people poured into Pioneer Airport on Saturday for EAA's annual Skiplane Fly-In at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Locally the flying conditions were favorable, with light winds and partly cloudy skies, allowing 26 skiplanes to participate. Not so much, unfortunately, to areas further south of Oshkosh as harsher weather prevented a number of pre-registered skiplane owners from flying in. Read more >>

International Skiplane Fly-In International Skiplane Fly-In Changes to Sunday
The weather forecast in the Lake Memphremagog region has led organizers of this weekend's 6th annual International Skiplane Fly-In to move the event back one day - from this Saturday, February 15, to Sunday, February 16. Skiplane pilots from the United States (Vermont) and Canada (Quebec) can land on frozen Lake Memphremagog behind their respective borders along the 45th parallel just west of Providence Island. Think Glorbal Flight Journey Think Global Flight Journey to Launch at Sun 'n Fun
Aviation enthusiasts from around the world will fly into Florida's Lakeland Linder Regional Airport for the Sun 'n Fun International Fly In and Expo April 1-6, but there will also be one very significant departure on April 3: The Think Global Flight (TGF) crew is set to take off from Sun 'n Fun to launch its around-the-world flight promoting S.T.E.M. education and aviation. Apply for Wisconsin Aviation HOF Scholarship by March 3
Applicants have until March 3 to apply for the five scholarships offered by Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame in 2014. The scholarships are valued at $2,750 and eligible recipients are Wisconsin students enrolled in aviation/aerospace courses of study at colleges and universities located either inside or outside the state.
