MV-22 Osprey Tilt-Rotor Aircraft Confirmed for AirVenture

Bill to Protect Private Airport Owners Passes Wisconsin Legislature
An EAA-supported bill to limit liability exposure for owners of private airports passed the both chambers of the Wisconsin legislature this week and is awaiting signature by Gov. Scott Walker. The bill, introduced by Senator Joseph Leibham and Rep. Paul Tittl in their respective chambers, adds the phrase "recreational aviation" to Wisconsin's recreational land use statute as one of a number of protected activities. Read more >>

Runway 5K Christine Ann Center to Benefit From Annual Runway 5K
The Oshkosh-based Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services Inc. agency will benefit from EAA's Runway 5K Run/Walk that will be held on Saturday, August 2, during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014. Christine Ann will receive all funds raised from the 5K. Read more >>

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Concert Band Back for 2014
For the seventh year, the EAA AirVenture Concert Band will perform at Oshkosh, and they're looking for musicians! The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, from 6:45-7:30 p.m. More than 300 EAA members from 34 states and four countries have played in the EAA AirVenture Concert Band. Experience levels range from junior high students to retired musicians. Read more >>

Ford Tri-Motor Next Leg of EAA Tri-Motor Tour Now Confirmed
The spring 2014 leg of EAA's Ford Tri-Motor tour has been finalized, and will be part of the historic aircraft's return to Oshkosh in time for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014. Flights at any of the upcoming locations can now be booked in advance.

The next segment of the tour begins on March 6 in Zephyrhills, Florida, and includes a week at the Sun 'n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Florida, on April 1-6. There are also upcoming stops in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

The Ford Tri-Motor tour is made possible through assistance at each stop by host EAA chapters, who supply essential logistics and volunteers.

Sun 'n Fun EAA-led Forums Slated for Sun 'n Fun
This year marks the 40th Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo at Lakeland, Florida, which runs April 1-6 at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. Sun 'n Fun is the traditional opening of the flying season, and EAAers will be there in force. Read more >>

Larry Whitesitt Larry Whitesitt Receives Master Pilot Award
Larry Lee Whitesitt, EAA 1088285, of Fairfield, Washington, was honored with the FAA's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award signifying 50 years of safe, violation-free flying - many as a bush pilot in Canada's Northwest Territory. Minard Thompson, FAASTeam program manager at the Spokane FSDO, presented the award at the Chapter 79 Christmas party held in December. Read more >>

New Airplane Shipments Increased in 2013
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced on Tuesday that shipments of new airplanes grew by 4.3 percent last year compared to 2012. GAMA member companies delivered a total of 2,256 airplanes, up from 2,164 in 2012. Read more >>

Garmin Garmin Adds Synthetic Vision to Pilot App
Garmin has added synthetic vision capability to its Pilot app for the iPad and iPhone. The company has offered the computer-generated view of terrain and obstacles ahead on its panel-mounted displays for several years, but this is its first for an app. Read more >>
