VAA is extending a special invitation to those aircraft built from 1945-1947 to participate in "Postwar Boom: the Classic Revolution," celebrating the tremendous postwar production of air frames fueled by returning soldiers, sailors, and airmen who wanted to fly. J. Mac McClellan Blog MAC'S BLOG: Not All Crosswinds Are Equal
We all know that the maximum demonstrated crosswind value listed in airplane manuals is not a limitation. The crosswind speed listed is the strongest crosswind component test pilots successfully handled during developmental flying. In the perfect world of airplane manuals and test flying, the wind is steady. In our real world of flying the wind is often varying many degrees in direction and gusting many knots.

Fuel Survey Results Are In!
Member Benefit Spotlight In March, nearly 13,000 EAA members received a survey about aviation fuel use, and here are some of the findings from that survey:
  • 87 percent of members are using primarily 100LL and 12 percent are using autogas.
  • 100LL and autogas users purchase an average of 709 gallons of fuel per year (median of 500 gallons).
  • 73 percent of members fill up at self-serve pumps and the majority (58 percent) would like to see EAA offer a discount program tied to a fuel card.
It came as no surprise that fuel discounts are of great importance to our members. EAA has negotiated double points on aviation fuel and autogas for new EAA Visa cardholders from April through September. We're also working with FBOs encouraging them to offer fuel discounts to people flying to AirVenture Oshkosh and we have more in the works!
