Thunderbirds Set For AirVenture Debut
The schedule is now set for the historic first-ever full show by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, with performances set for Friday through Sunday, August 1-3. Those performances are part of the daily afternoon air shows at Oshkosh on each of those days. Read more >>

EAA Commemorates Milestone D-Day Anniversary
EAA honored the 70th anniversary of D-Day by hosting a special program in the AirVenture Museum's Eagle Hangar on Friday, June 6. Several World War II veterans, current military personnel, and other officials commemorated the massive Allied landing along a 50-mile stretch of heavily fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy.

Matt Chapman Matt Chapman to Fly in 'Formation' with RC Plane
Matt Chapman, EAA 226243, is a well-known air show performer and former U.S. Aerobatic Team member who flies a high-performance CAP 580. He's also a passionate aircraft modeler and member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), and he will combine those two pursuits in Oshkosh this year when he flies his 580 along with a 43 percent scale Extra 300 radio-controlled model following his air show performances. Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Cessnas 2 Oshkosh Group to Include up to 19 Cardinals
The ninth annual Cessnas 2 Oshkosh (C2O) group arrival at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year has 56 aircraft registered, including as many as 19 model 177 Cardinals - with many of them retracting gear models. Jerry Olson, EAA 1019283 and a Cardinal owner, has been leading the effort to get model 177s involved in C2O this year. "Nineteen Cardinals may not sound like a lot, but considering there are less than 3,000 left flying worldwide, that is a fairly significant number," he said. Read more >>

Valdez STOL Valdez STOL Pilot Spotlight: Dennis Wittenberg
Usually during the months of July and August you can find Dennis Wittenberg in Alaska where he used to operate seaplanes, but now goes for the great fishing and get-togethers with old friends. And STOL flying, of course. This year, however, the native Oregonian is planning to be in Oshkosh to participate in the EAA AirVenture Valdez STOL demonstration activities. Montes Winery was selected by EAA to be the official vintner for this year's EAA Gathering of Eagles, one of the aviation world's top fundraising events, held each year at the EAA AirVenture fly-in at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Gathering of Eagles, which annually raises more than $2 million for youth aviation education programs, will be held at the EAA AirVenture Museum on Thursday, July 31. Read more >>

Like so many of our members, we are pushing really hard to get our Zenith CH 750 project done for Oshkosh. The big advantage we have is that we are on already the field, so if you want to see the aircraft up close, make sure you visit the Homebuilders Hangar during AirVenture. Brendan Robinson Harrison Ford Scholarship Recipient Now a Sport Pilot
Former Young Eagle Brendan Robinson, who received a Harrison Ford Flight Training Scholarship just last year, is now a sport pilot after passing his checkride on May 29. Robinson, EAA 1047746, graduated from Chilton High School, Wisconsin, a week earlier and took his checkride in a Piper J-3 Cub: "My favorite airplane," he wrote. Read more >>

International Young Eagles Day Saturday is International Young Eagles Day
EAA's annual International Young Eagles Day, which has seen thousands of young people introduced to aviation each year since 1994, is this Saturday, June 14. EAA members around the world are encouraged to share their passion for flight with the next generation. Chapters who are planning Young Eagles rallies this weekend are encouraged to send their reports and photos to the Young Eagles office so we can share them on the EAA website. Read more >>

Witness Fun Flying at EAA Ultralight Day
Fun flight will be on full display this Saturday, June 14, as up to two dozen ultralights and light planes fly to EAA's Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh for Ultralight Day. Two mass arrivals of aircraft from EAA Ultralight Chapters 1 (Southern Wisconsin) and 75 (North Central Wisconsin) are scheduled between 9-10 a.m., with several flying demonstration and proficiency events taking place in the afternoon. Cessna Aircraft Co. began its third annual Discover Flying Challenge (DFC), on Tuesday, June 10, at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas. Record Flight Aviation World Record Achieved for Coast-to-Coast Flight
Michael Combs, EAA 877079, earned a sixth aviation world record in his Hope One Remos GX light-sport aircraft after completing a coast-to-coast flight on Saturday, June 7, as part of his Flight for Human Spirit project. If Combs' flight is verified by the National Aeronautic Association and ultimately the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, it would establish a new point-to-point transcontinental speed record for this class of aircraft. Air Race Women Pilots Prepare for Air Race Championship
Buchanan Field Airport in Concord, California, will be the starting line for the 2014 Air Race Classic (ARC), the annual race for female pilots scheduled June 16-19. Pilots will race against their own best speed to the finish line in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, in the small airplane of their choice. Read more >>
