Volunteer Park EAA Volunteer Advisory Committee Update
By Barbara Rapchak, EAA 638323

The EAA Volunteer Advisory Committee was a new initiative for all of us when it launched last November. We come from different backgrounds, live in different parts of the U.S. or other countries, and many of us have never met. We are a microcosm of the EAA volunteer family, but we all have one thing in common - our commitment to help improve the EAA volunteer experience and create a best-in-class volunteer program. FAA Charges for ATC and EAA's Action Plan
EAA Chairman Jack Pelton reviewed the timeline of the FAA's demand for charges for air traffic services at Oshkosh this year to inform AirVenture volunteers. He also urged the volunteers to get involved with their Congressional representatives on FAA's demands, since ultimately Congress is the FAA's boss.

Volunteer chairs appreciated the update and are solidly behind EAA's efforts to fight these fees and keep AirVenture strong as a necessary event for the GA community and for those vendors that rely on Oshkosh to stay in business.

If you haven't joined already, we need you involved NOW. Go to EAA's Rally Congress site and urge your House of Representatives member to sign the bipartisan letter to the FAA Administrator. It's quick and easy to do. Personal calls and emails to your congressional representatives are also often much more effective then bulk e-mails, so let them know that the freedom of personal flight is important to you as a constituent and voter.

AirVenture Lineup AirVenture Lineups Come Into Focus
At the June 18 teleconference for AirVenture volunteer chairs, Jim DiMatteo provided the latest and greatest of the 2013 Oshkosh lineups. Just as it has for 60 years, the annual EAA fly-in lineup continues to evolve to reflect member/visitor requests, innovation, and some "let's give this a try" ideas. Read more >>

The following clip is an update on AirVenture that was included in the June Chapter video. If you have not visited a chapter meeting recently, we encourage you to stop in and learn more.

Since March 1, we've been tracking the number of volunteer hours worked at EAA Headquarters throughout the year. Even outside of AirVenture, volunteers play a huge role in carrying out EAA's mission, but we've never had a way to brag about it.
